Dear Members
Papers for our Annual General Meeting to be held on Tuesday 30th January at 7pm can all be found on our website here.
This is an important meeting which we hope as many of you as possible can attend. At this meeting we will be asking if you agree to amend our constitution. Two amendments are fairly technical. One is to clarify the voting majorities needed to accept any amendments and the other is to simplify the auditing of our accounts.
Once that has happened we will be asking you if you agree to accept an amendment which will enable us to form twinning partnerships in addition to our existing partnership with Hédé Bazouges, with towns or villages we may develop links with. We are trying to ensure that the constitution might cover future possibilities as well as the ones we are currently considering.
The background to this is that we know many of you are keen to ensure our links with Europe are not lost. Hédé Bazouges Jumelage has been struggling although they are still trying hard to keep going. We have through them started to make links with Badbergen in northern Germany and in the summer a group of 8 of us visited them. Badbergen were very welcoming and laid on a very hospitable visit for us. They have now approached us to ask if we would like to formalise an arrangement with them. We will be asking you at the AGM if you agree that we should move forward with this.
Attached to this e mail alongside the AGM papers are copies of the original constitution and a draft with the changes we are proposing. A formal ballot will be taken on the evening.
After the business is concluded we will have wine and cheese and a beetle drive with a small prize for the winner.
I look forward to seeing you there.
Linda
